Any lighting product being connected directly to line-voltage needs to meet electrical certification standards set by the provincial or state building council. Failure to comply may result in hefty fines, product removal and invalidation of insurance policies. Some common electrical certifications are cULus, CSA and cETLus. Did you know that you could be eligible for rebates if you use Energy Star approved LED lighting products? Energy Star is a certification given by the US Department of Energy that simplifies the selection process for LED retrofit bulbs and interior fixtures. Products that meet this standard are more likely to meet performance specifications and life expectancy. Consequently, utilities such as the Ontario Power Authority and Efficiency Vermont, apply rebates only to Energy Star approved products. DESIGNLIGHTS LISTED
The DesignLights Consortium’s approved product list simplifies the product selection process for exterior lighting applications. Choosing a DLC listed luminaire ensures its quality and reliability. As a result, many utilities grant maximum rebates for switching to DLC listed LED street lights, parking garage luminaires and other exterior area lighting products.
